Microsoft’s New Social Site…So.cl Does What Google+ Missed Completely
It’s no secret that Microsoft has been playing catch up with what seems to be everything tech these days. Even there online presence has taken a huge back seat to Google and other social sites.
So many have wondered if there is anything that Microsoft can do to get back to some type of relevance. Because outside of Xbox, it’s really not happening for them.
But I think that Microsoft’s new foray into the Social Media experience could win some people over. I know that it may have done that for me just from using it for oh let’s say….less than 10 minutes.
And that’s no joke. I really think they’re on to something here and if you use the site, you’ll immediately see why. They were able to capitalize on Google’s mistake with Google+.
And would you like to know what that is???? Certainly, I’ll tell ya.
Here is the missing piece that you see right away in So.cl. This social media site keeps the search engine in-house. So what does that mean exactly?
Well instead of you going outside of the site to find something interesting to link back to your page…you can do it right there inside of So.cl. It’s so easy and convenient and actually very fast.
All you have to do is search for any topic at all in it’s search field.
You can search under images, the web, videos, etc and post it right there with a comment of your own in literally seconds. It’s that user-friendly.
What’s crazy is that I ALWAYS USE GOOGLE SEARCH! No exceptions till I hit this site. When I’m there, it’s Bing or Bust Baby! So Kudos to them for finding a unique way to get people using their search tools.
I was able to do about three or four posts without even trying. I was quite in a zone for awhile there. And I really didn’t want to stop but I wanted to gather myself then go back to it with some type of game plan.
Look…this is obviously just a first glance into Microsoft’s new Social Media gig but I must say, it looks promising. Now it’s still tagged as some type of social experiment but I think that’s just to cover their you know whats!
They don’t want to screw this up…I know that they are hoping for this site to keep up with the usual suspects (Facebook, Twitter, all things Google). We shall see how it works out for them.
For now, I say jump on and give So.cl a whirl. We will be back with a better analysis after we’ve played with it some more. It is getting traffic so we’ll be monitoring this one very closely. But so far, my initial review is…I like it!
